When should I book my maternity session?
The ideal time to have your maternity portrait session is around the 7th month of pregnancy, or 28-31 weeks pregnant. Your belly will be popping in the best way and will be the perfect size both for your session and for the posing required. We don’t advise clients wait much longer than the 8th month, but we’ve also photographed mommas 1 week away from their delivery date because life happens. On that note: if we’re aiming to shoot (pun intended) in your 7th month of pregnancy, it’s ideal to contact us in your second trimester as we are often fully reserved 3-4 months in advance. Sometimes we can accommodate more last minute clients, so reach out regardless.
Do you provide maternity gowns I can wear for the session?
Yes! We have beautiful, hand-made gowns, dresses and bodysuits. We work with a local seamstress to create custom pieces for our clients. We personally source fabrics from local stores as well as those in New York City. Some of our favorite looks involve simply draping fabrics or, if you are interested, fine art nude maternity portraits (our favorite kind). Our goal is to celebrate your body and your baby’s journey in what makes you feel beautiful.
Where is the maternity session?
We offer indoor and outdoor sessions. Indoor maternity sessions require a bit more space than our baby sessions, so depending on the layout of your home, sometimes we will rent studio space for this session type. Outdoors we photograph in a local park convenient to both the city of Philadelphia and its suburbs.
How much should i budget for maternity photos?
Most clients invest $2000-$3500 on their maternity portraits. The final investment amount depends on what artwork suits you best from this session type. Some of our clients want to outfit walls with their maternity portraits and other clients prefer a luxury album of all of their portraits. More investment information can be viewed here.
